While it's our last party in this incarnation, we're pleased to let

Maneesh the Twister
Maneesh the Twister is founder of Surya Dub, the next level in Global Dubwize Vibes and Dread Bass Culture. He was also co-founder of the Dhamaal Artist Collective, which had been championing hybrids of South Asian audio and visual art for over 7 years. His vision is to unite all dubwize communities from Roots Reggae to Dubstep to Global Bass Beat Bizness. The SF Bay Guardian voted Maneesh the Best Club DJ of San Francisco in 2007. He currently has productions under way with State of Bengal, Kush Arora, Dhruva, & Juakali.

Smoove
Smoove's ability to connect with any audience gained him membership in Nitevibe's DJ Dreamteam three years in a row. Simply put, he's is one of the quintessential tastemakers in the SF Breakz scene today. Since his emergence in 2001, Smoove has developed an ever increasing international audience performing worldwide before sold out events. He launched Cheeky Recordings with fellow SF Breakz DJ's Melyss and Jayo in 2006 and has been tapped as a resident DJ for the monthly Late Show party at The End Up. Smoove follows through with his motto of "More Bounce To The Ounce!"

Donna Matrix
Donna Matrix began her venture into music while touring with the Dead in her teens. When Jerry died, she wandered around in a haze until she channeled her guiding light beings from the Pleiades on what to do next. She was instructed to go to a psytrance rave. After shaving off her dreadlocks and taking a shower, she realized that her future was in dance music. Now a staple in San Francisco's vibrant breaks scene, she frequently terrorizes hippies on the dancefloor with non-organic, dirty basslines that have no ethnic stylings whatsoever.

Whether its breaks, bhangra, house, drum & bass or downtempo the global nature of Amar's sets bridges a multi-culti span from the world to the Bay Area.

San Francisco, CA – August 17, 2007 -- Residents of London’s famed THE END and Ibiza’s renown Superfreq parties are coming to San Francisco. Mighty and Non-Fat present to you “The Superfreq Express” featuring the former member of The Shamen and “Tech House” originator/catalyst, MR.C; his protégé and esteemed producer, Adultnapper (Francis Harris); and the next big thing in Electro House – Dollz At Play. Featuring a feast of cosmopolitan, techno-electro, acid, minimal house and techno beats from legends and prodigies– this is a show San Francisco will never forget.

For over 5 years now, the Superfreq nights have been one of the best underground parties around the world continually challenging eclectic electro, house and minimal techno sounds. They currently run every Sunday at The End, as well as select North American dates with Made Event in New York & Miami with a new quarterly residency at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. After three fantastic seasons in Ibiza, the party successfully migrated from club Underground to the legendary DC 10 last year and the mayhem is now fully underway every Wednesday this summer. In 2005, Superfreq Records was established with partner Luke vB and currently the label is establishing a firm foothold in the world of cutting edge electronic dance music while still retaining a serious element of fun inherent in the Superfreq mantra. On the production front Mr. C has teamed up with Brooklyn’s emerging talent the nefarious Adultnapper, under the guise of the Sycophant Slags.

A true pioneer of dance music Mr. C scaled pop culture heights with the psychedelic-influenced techno-rave act The Shamen in the 1990s as pioneers of the rock/dance crossover and harbingers of today’s scene. His devotion to underground dance music and ascension as tech-house doyen and co-owner of London’s popular The End nightclub has kept Mr. C at the top of his game and a mainstay of the global techno scene. "I phoned round the main movers and groovers in the tech-house scene and said, 'Look, if we all start using this word to create a genre for ourselves, the press can jump on it. All of a sudden we're going to be seen as the leaders of this music.' And it worked.” His commitment to experimentation and credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavors to take the sounds of the underground to new and more accessible heights.

Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two records, Francis Harris’s precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer an uncommon distinction. Dollz at Play are a new concept in dance music & with their punky, rocky style are the new generation of Electro-House. If you haven't heard of the Dollz At Play by now then you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years. The Dollz continue their proliferation of the dance music world in their own unique style by completely capturing the imagination of the unsuspecting masses.
On top of holding down their residencies at Superfreq at The End in London on Sundays & DC10 Ibiza on Wednesdays the Dollz At Play have been ultra busy jet setting around the world to the far flung reaches of the planet, playing their own take on modern electronic dance music. In 1988 clubs, cafes and bars across the nation began tuning into a track that would help define the next 16 years of British dance music. `Anyone (who had a heart)’, a Bacharach and David cover, done in a style that used the lyrics but resembled little of the original, introduced `Smith and Mighty’ to the U.K. dance culture's consciousness. The tracks heavy synthesized dub bass, tight production, mid-tempo b-drum heavy and sharp snare beat, set off with piano, strings, a couple of well placed samples sat magnificently behind Jackie Jackson’s sublime vocal. This track presented a new mix template for dance music, which had been hinted at by the Wild Bunch’s version of `The Look of Love’ the year before. The duo of Rob Smith and Ray Mighty perfected this style with their own unique vision as they went on to release another instant classic `Walk on By’ (again a Bacharach and David cover), produced a top ten single for Fresh Four (Wishing on a Star), produced Massive Attacks first single (Any Love) and a sublime album for Carlton (The Call is Strong) on London records who had pulled out the check book to sign the act. Smith and Mighty continued to produce, remix and DJ across the world and worked on an album that would not see the light of day due to record company short-sightedness. During this time they worked with Neneh Cherry and Fine Young Cannibals amongst others before they left London in 1994. One 12” they did release before leaving London was the `Steppers Delight EP’, tracks on this anticipated the `Jungle/Drum and Bass’ scene and kept S&M’s reputation riding high. After they left London they set up their own `More Rockers’ label and set the standards even higher with the `Bass is Maternal’ album. Rob and Ray then provided K7 with a DJ kicks album and signed to the German Label for a series of Smith and Mighty albums. With Rob and Peter D Rose also linking up in the drum and bass act More Rockers the 1990s were a hectic and busy period. Rob Smith has now entered a new phase in his recording career and has released his debut `solo’ album on Manchester’s Grand Central Records. `Up on the Downs’ has all the elements of classic Bristolian creativity. You can hear Rob’s many influences from Punk and New-Wave, Reggae and dub to heart wrenching Soul. There are collaborations with a range of vocalists who provide gorgeous compliments to Smiths compositions. Smith has consistently championed the independent, DIY philosophy of punk and has always produced music that speaks to the emotions as well as the dance floor. He is presently writing a second album for Grand Central, DJing all over the world and continuing to produce music of the highest quality.

It's time to get 2007 on the road, and we thought we should play our part and do something really positive to start the year.

To that effect, we have some groovy DJs to make you wiggle and bounce and Ceiba will showcase some items for your sartorial fetish.

During dinner, Kode IV aka Peter from Ceiba will play some chilled tunes while you indulge in the delicious offerings, and he will be followed by resident MetaThema (aka Sanyama) playing some world beats to add an eclectic vibe.

***this is for anyone throwing a party during Loveweek (weekly, monthly, one time) ***

As you well know, Love Fest is coming next month and I'm (Carolina Quijano) one of the volunteers for promotions, not to mention I'm also a writer for Nitevibe. I'm writing all promoters/clubs to ask if you want your event(s) to be a Love affiliated event for the Love Fest.

If you do, we will include your party info on our website and offer lots of promotion. To see parties already listed on our site, please visit http://www.sflovefest.org/afterparty.php.

Weekdays events can be listed with both graphic (flyer) and text for free. Weekend events that are just text can be listed for free. If you want to include a flyer or a graphic, then there is a $100 charge (because we have to pay a web person to do it).
